Salus Financial Group was created by Chip and Matt Petrillo, a father and son team of financial professionals, who wanted the freedom and flexibility to accommodate and cater to the specific individual needs of the people and institutions with whom they work. 

The name “Salus” is the Latin word for safety, well-being, and prosperity. Aside from just a name, Salus represents the benchmark for the pragmatic and efficient way in which Chip and Matt approach investment consultation, advisory and how they service the companies and people they work with.

Read Bio

Chip Petrillo is a fully licensed financial professional who has been involved with financial services since the start of his career.  Chip’s background has given way to two main areas of focus: Institutional Investment Services and Personal Wealth Management.  

At the start of his career Chip worked for a retirement plan record-keeper.  This foundation paved the way for a true understanding of how retirement plans operate from the standpoint of record-keeper and administrator, to the perspective of a plan participant saving for their next chapter.  Expanding on this foundation, his experience led him to a turnkey asset management platform where he worked with investment advisors as an outsourced solution for business growth and efficiency.  

These efforts later evolved into a role in Capital Markets where he was directly responsible for cultivating relationships with Insurance Companies, Money Managers, Banks and Hedge Funds.  During this time he helped to build out a trading model used for underwriting commercial mortgage loans. Chip holds NASD Series 7, 65, 63, and 6 licenses as well as a Life Insurance license.

This collective experience enables Chip to provide a broad approach to wealth management and is showcased in the work he does at Salus Financial Group. When Chip is not at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife Syrena, daughter Filomena and their two American Bulldogs.  He enjoys traveling, surfing, snowboarding and trying new things.

Matt Petrillo

Matt Petrillo is a fully licensed financial professional with a background in accounting.  Prior to transitioning to financial services, he held the position of CFO at an international glass manufacturing company.  This career laid the foundation for his expertise and first-hand experience with 401k plans, company benefits and the day to day challenges affecting businesses and the core people that support them.  

This unique perspective affords him the ability to empathize with clients in a very real way and uniquely bolsters Salus Financial Group’s value proposition.  Matt Petrillo is a former CPA and holds FINRA Series 66 & 7 licenses as well as a Life Insurance license. When Matt is not at work, he enjoys traveling with his wife Peggy and is an avid golfer.

As a fiduciary, we operate in your company’s best interest - always.

Fiduciary services include:

  • Two levels of fiduciary support: 3(21), 3(38)
  • Flexibility to adapt to needs of plan sponsor as well as regulatory changes
Plan Sponsor Integration

Helping you choose the right plan for your business and your employees.

Salus will work with your plan sponsor to:

  • Develop and adhere to a plan Investment Policy Statement
  • Review your plan. This is generally twice annually.*
  • Provide ongoing support and availability by phone, fax, email or any other appropriate correspondence

Record Keeper & Plan Custodian Management

You want to make sure that your employees have the plan that’s right for them and right for your business.

Salus is able to help by providing:

  • Evaluations of ongoing cost structure, fund offering relative to peer group, evaluation of participant service support and end client experience (investment and other related support is covered by fiduciary capability cited above)
  • Ongoing evaluations of top providers for plans with assets in line with client/prospect to help remain competitive and ahead of curve
  • Open and continuous communication between Salus and plan record-keeper/custodian to ensure that plan and participants are getting maximum satisfaction
  • RFP, as needed, to formally evaluate change in custodian
Participant Integration

Onboarding your employees to the company’s plan can be tough.

We will take care of the heavy lifting including:

  • Continuous plan participant support by phone, email, fax or any other appropriate correspondence
  • Dedication of two days per quarter to allow for one-on-one in-person consultation*

Communication Support

Once you have the plan for your company and employees, Salus will help you effectively communicate the plan on an ongoing basis.

That means we provide:

  • Support of plan initiatives in participant’s best interests, by helping to communicate any and all plan related nuances; i.e. message to update beneficiaries, etc.
Education

It’s important to keep your company and employees up-to-date with all facets of your plan and financial options.

To do that, Salus provides:

  • An annual education seminar on benefits of 401k plan investment*
  • Continuous communication on the importance of taking advantage of employer matching
  • Communication with terminated plan participants with remaining balances to educate them on their options 
  • Flexible tailoring of information to support customized, individual participant needs
